Web GIS

Principles and Applications presents a thorough overview of the 
origins and developments of this emerging platform. 
                                                         ESRI
1.      Web GIS is any GIS that uses Web technology to communicate between components.
¨  Web-based map viewer, marking the origin of web GIS. The Web site provide
ú  Simple map zoom capabilities.
ú  Layer selection.
ú  Map projection conversion functions.
¨  Users could use the map viewer in a Web browser and click a link to a function. The Web browser would then send an HTTP request to the Web server.
¨  The web server would receive the request, perform mapping operations, generate a new map, and return it to the Web browser that requested it. The Web browser would then receive and display the map image. 
¨  The format of the response can be an HTML that is used by the Web browser client, but it can also be in other formats such as binary image, XML, or JSON.
2.     
Commercial Web mapping applications such as;
            - Google Maps
            - Google Earth
            - Microsoft Bing Maps
            - Yahoo Map
            - Open source Web mapping
            - Free web map servers

3.      These sites commonly provide detailed maps and high-resolution ground imagery of many regions.

 1.Click the link


2. Click Zip Archive

 3. Save to your Hard disk drive
 4. Past to C:/Drive
 5. Save in C:/ Drive
 6. Open Readme_install
 7. Start CMD
 8. Go to CMD Folder
 9. If you not login as a administrator log as Administator
 10. CMD Shell
 11. Go to ms4w folder
 12. Install the server to your computer
13.  Go to localhost, type http://localhost
 14.  If you want to install two servers change the port
 15. Change the port number
 16. Down load any mapping server framework to your server
 17. Click the down load link
 18. Extract all to the folder
 19. Copy folder
 20. past the folder
 21. Restart the server
 22. Refresh the page
 23. This is the install pack
 24. p.mapper package
 25. Mapserv_demo_ms4w pack
 26. Extract all to the folder
 27. Copy and paste to C:/ drive
 28. Restart the server
 29. Refresh the page
 30. Refresh the page
 31. Rename the project
 32. Rename as you like
 33. Change HTML coordings
 34. Change cording acceding to your requirement
 35. Go to md4w and open apps folder
 36. Rename the folder to above given name
 37. Go to md4w and open httpd.d folder
 38. Rename the folder to above given name
 39. Go to md4w and open httpd.d folder
 40. Rename to httpd_srilanka
 41. Open the doc
 42. Change these parameters
 43. Copy the folder and paste in C:/ Drive
 44. Restart the server
 45. You can see the map server

 46. Change code for modification
 47. Open the file
 48. Open with notepad for easy editing
 49. Edit this doc to change the layout
 50. Cording
 51. Data folder
