GIS
APPLICATIONS AND REMOTE SENSING (GA&RS)COURSE
1.
Overview : Geographic
Information System offers a range of training
courses to those who wish to fully utilize the capabilities of a GIS. GIS offer training opportunities to enhance and broaden GIS skills, to keep
those skills current with the latest technology and software developments. The
GIS Training Center has well equipped training labs consisting of
powerful workstations with large monitors connected to dedicated servers to
conduct training courses on ArcGIS Desktop. GIS provide training courses
based on GIS technology skills and best practices to equip our users to work on
GIS workflows on desktop. Students earn an recognized GIS student
certificate upon completion of the course.

Course
objective: To
gain a basic, practical understanding of GIS concepts, techniques and real
world applications

By following this course : students will gain;

Basic
Computer training and Installation of ArcGIS 10
b. Introduction to GIS

Familiarizing with ArcGIS 10 ( Tools, techniques and real world
applications)

Types of Maps

Georeferencing the Map and Image
(Vector and Raster)

Satellite based, Positioning &
Navigation (GPS)

GIS Analysis

GPS handling

Project development in GIS

Intended
audience: Designed for
students interested in acquiring a basic knowledge of GIS in order to assist
GIS works in Office works.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites but some
background in computer science or geography is helpful.
6.
Course
format: Classroom lecture,
discussion and hands on lab exercises. Students will complete lab exercises
using ArcGIS 10 software.
7.
Software
and computer requirements:
Students will complete assignments on lab desktops computers using ArcGIS 10
software mentioned above. Additional assignments and demonstrations will
utilize other software tools as needed.

10. Customized Training
Program : We offer classes which are especially designed to cater the
specific needs of our Three servicers, STF and Police.
