How to export maps from ArcGIS 10 to Google Earth

In Gis project some time we have to give our map out put in several format and several application to open it. Most of the time it can be a .kml or .klz layer.  This .kml and .klz file types fit in to Google earth. This tutorial will give you a brief idea about how to export ArcGis map in to Google earth. This tutorial will show how to change your local coordinating system to WGS 84 and how to convert layers in to kml file type.

- Open new ArcMap 10 project

- Assign local coordinate system to your project

- Assign local coordinate system to your layers

- Add required layers, shape files or maps to this ArcGis 10 window and Make the required map

-  Chang local projection to WGS 84. World Geodetic System 1984 datum (WGS 84) is the standard coordinate frame for earth. A datum is a reference for physical parameters such as the shape of the earth. WGS 84 is the reference coordinating system used in GPS systems.

- To change Local projection to WGS 84 – To find projection tool, go to search window and type Projection – Go to Projection (Data Management) tool

- Change Local coordinate system to WGS 84

- Now we have to convert layer to kml. Type “layer to kml” in search window and search. This tool converts layer feature or raster layer into a KML file containing a translation of ESRI geometries and symbology.

- Finally you have saved .kml file. Now go to your save location and click the .kml file. It will open your Google earth and it will show the location in Google earth.( First you have to install Google earth to your computer )
